Meet Our Horses

Comet Greeting New Horse
ATHA

Hi, I’m Comet, the Resident Social Director and Mascot at After The Homestretch AZ. I’m not up for adoption because my full-time job is hanging out at the Ranch, making sure all the new horses feel welcome and keeping the volunteers entertained!

I also report on all the happenings through my  newsletter, Comet’s Corner. I send it every few months, so if you’d like to receive our updates in your inbox, be sure to sign up. Just click the button below!

Let me introduce you to the Herd.

The horses in our aftercare program are in various stages of rehabilitation, retraining and some are ready to be adopted by their new forever family.

Training in Our Aftercare Program

These horses have recently arrived to our aftercare program and are in the process of adjusting to their new environment.

During this time, each horse is thoroughly evaluated by our veterinarian to determine dietary needs and address any injuries requiring treatment. Our trainer also assesses each horse to identify strengths, areas for improvement, and the best path forward.

 Ready to Adopt
Riding Horses

These former athletes have successfully completed our aftercare program and are ready to begin a new chapter with a forever family.

They are suitable for riding and/or continued training and can excel in a variety of disciplines, including dressage, show jumping, and pleasure riding. Each horse has the foundation and potential to thrive in a second career.

Ready to Adopt
Companion Horses

These retired racehorses are no longer able to be ridden, most often due to injuries sustained during their racing careers.

While they are not suitable for work, they still have full, happy lives ahead of them and plenty of love to give. They make wonderful companions and are a great addition to homes with other horses.

Permanent Residents &
Under Medical Care

Permanent Residents remain at ATHA due to advanced age and/or ongoing health considerations and will continue to receive lifelong care with us.

Horses listed as Under Medical Care are currently following a treatment or rehabilitation plan. While they may become available for adoption in the future, they are not eligible at this time.
