After The Homestretch has rescued 52 horses and 36 have found their new, forever homes. In our current herd of 16 some are rehabbing, others are being trained for new careers, and there are those who will be pasture buddies.
Here is our 36th successful adoption: “Some adoptions are especially heartwarming. Dave, the mustang, who was originally rescued by Pinal County from an abusive situation had recently lost his mare companion and was lonely.
His owner contacted us asking for a companion mare. Our Halee had come to us from the AZ Dept of Agriculture. She had been found abandoned in the desert. Now healthy and sound we were sure Halee would be a good match for Dave.
The majority of our horses have recently retired from the track, but as you see, we also receive horses from the AZ Dept of Agriculture (found wandering in the desert) and from persons who can no longer care for their former racehorse.
Your help will make a difference in their lives.
